The study carried out on behalf of the European social partners of the telecommunications sector ETNO and Uni Europa used the e-CF to translate relevant research findings into a commonly understood European skills language.

By closely working with SMEs, the European e-Jobs Observatory identifies and specifies the skills, knowledge and competences required for the new Job Role Profiles of the digital economy, based on identified market needs, and formulated from the e-CF.

FZI uses the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF) as a reference for identifying and describing IT competences, incorporating the framework both in applied research activities, consultancy projects and technology transfer in order to support SME, large companies and public institutions. Special focus is given to the advancement of the e-CF with respect to future IT competences needed in the areas of Autonomous Systems, Big Data, the Internet of Things and Security and Privacy by Design.
