Businesses are combining their internal ICT skills with complementary external support to keep up with rapid digital transformation, according to an article in the IT Pro magazine.
Throughout 2020, IT decision-makers have continuously reviewed how their teams work and how best to adapt to changes. In this regard, many organisations have had to accelerate their digital transformation, and have extended their software development teams to offshore locations to provide support to their core tech staff. Although up- and reskilling their IT staff is a more efficient long-term solution, there are situations where engaging external help is a more feasible approach. For example, retraining current staff or hiring new staff may not be possible or useful if changes need to be implemented change quickly or there is a single project requiring very specialised skills which afterwards will not be needed.
