The European Parliament and Council of the EU have reached a provisional political agreement on the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Under the new rules, intermediary services, namely online platforms – such as social media and marketplaces – will have to take measures to protect their users from illegal content, goods and services. The specific text remains to be finalised and verified at technical level, after which both the Parliament and Council will give their formal approval.
