Tatjana Welzer is Full Professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She is the Head of the Database Technologies Laboratory of the Institute of Informatics. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1995.

Her research work covers a wide range of research areas, from databases, cyber security to intercultural communication and research in education. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects. Most international projects have been funded by the EC (European Commission) through various Erasmus programs (European University ATHENA) and H2020 programs (CONCORDIA, CyberSec4Europe). Her bibliography contains more than 700 bibliographic items, including top JCR IF publications as well as several books. She is also an active reviewer for scientific conferences and journals.

She has been and is a member of the committees of many international conferences, as well as some steering committees. and has organized and co-organized numerous of them in Slovenia. She was the institutional Erasmus coordinator of the University of Maribor and the Erasmus coordinator at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She is a member of the Senate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics (FERI) and the member of the Executive board of the Slovenian Society Informatika. She is also the Slovenian national delegate to IFIP TC 11. She was the Secretary General of the ACM Slovenia. She is also a member of UM Ladies in informatics.
